The Hobous—Casablanca's "New Medina"—is another attraction. French-built in 1930s. Art deco is represented here. Crafts, olive, vegetable, and spice markets are available here. Walk along Morocco's "Miami" Boulevard de la Corniche and Beach Promenade.
In the afternoon, see the flat plains and rolling hills turn into the Rif range as you travel to Chefchaouen. Chefchaouen has a laidback environment and some of the nicest people in the nation. Before eating, visit Plaza Outa el-Hammam, the major plaza.
You may climb the hill to the city walls and go to Hotel Atlas. View Blue City from the rooftop. Walk east of the city to climb to the white Spanish Mosque at night. Watch the sunset behind the mountains from its position.
Early risers may enjoy an hour of solitude while strolling the town's blue avenues in the morning. The Roman Ruins at Volubilis, a UNESCO world heritage site containing the best-preserved Roman ruins in Morocco, is a pleasant detour from the bustling city of Meknes. Today, you can explore the vast complex, which includes temples, large merchant residences with visible heating systems underneath, and numerous vibrant mosaics.
If you desire, you may make a halt in Meknes. This affluent city is a good place to prepare for your time in Fes: the medina is smaller, less crowded, and merchants are less aggressive. While the city is quite extensive, the Ville Impériale and the medina are the two most interesting areas.
From there, continue east toward Fes. Before entering the UNESCO-protected medina, ascend the tiny incline to the Merenid Tombs for a panoramic view of the city and to get your bearings. It is ideal to tour the monuments at twilight, when the city lights begin to illuminate and the muezzin's summons to prayer fill the valley. Return to the medina and your traditional riad accommodation.
Fes, the oldest among the four imperial cities, boasts the most intact medina in the Arab world. With its untouched streets dating back over a millennium, it offers a glimpse into medieval life in Morocco.
Often hailed as the cultural capital of the country, Fes comprises Fes el Bali and Fes el Jdid, both medina quarters, along with the more modern Ville Nouvelle, influenced by French colonialism.
Join your guide on a half-day tour to explore this fascinating city, unraveling its rich history and vibrant culture as you navigate the maze-like alleys of the medinas.
Embark in Fes el Bali, entering through the iconic Bab Boujeloud gate, and follow the bustling Talâa Kebira street. Marvel at the architectural influences from Spain and Tunisia as you pass by shops and souks.
Immerse yourself in the Chouara Tannery, where men still practice age-old techniques using stone pots filled with vibrant dyes. Admire the exquisite zellij tilework of the 14th-century Al Attarine Madrasa before venturing to the Mellah,
the historic Jewish quarter and cemetery, located in Fes el Jdid. If time permits, explore Ville Nouvelle to witness the striking architectural contrast it presents.
After immersing yourself in the wonders of Fes in the morning, begin your return journey towards Casablanca, optionally making stops in Meknes and Rabat along the way. If your flight schedule allows, consider delving deeper into the charms of Casablanca before heading to the airport.
You can pay homage to the cinematic history of the city by visiting Rick's Café, a renowned establishment that recreates the iconic scene from the legendary film, inviting you to follow in the footsteps of Ingrid Bergman and Humphrey Bogart.
