From Volubilis, we will make our way to Meknes, one of Morocco's renowned imperial cities. As you stroll through the labyrinthine alleys, you will encounter remarkable landmarks such as Al Quaraouin, the oldest university in Morocco, the Nejjarin Museum, the Jewish Quarter, and enjoy a panoramic view of Fes' famous leather tannery. The day starts with a trip to the Medina, which is one of the world's largest walled cities. We're going to check out the little alleys with fruit, spices, Berber blankets and other arts. We'll visit a few churches, like the Mosque Quaraouiyine, which was built in 859, and the Mosque of Andalusia.
Next, we'll go to the city's beginnings and see places like the Nejjarine Fountain, madrassas (Koranic schools), the Batha (Museum of the Palace of Fine Arts), tanneries, and souks like the Souk Attarine Bab Boujloud, which is full of blue and green ceramics. Another place to go is to the door to the Royal Palace. Your full-day tour of Fes starts with a visit to the city's famous ceramics workshop and ends with stunning views of the Medina, which is the old part of the city. Stay the night in a riad or hotel in the Fes Medina.
Following a delightful breakfast, we will bid farewell to the captivating city of Fes and set off towards Ifrane, often referred to as the "Switzerland of Morocco." Continuing our journey, we will venture to the bustling local souk (market) of Rissani. After a fulfilling day of exploration, we will pause for a well-deserved lunch break, allowing you to savor the flavors of Moroccan cuisine and replenish your energy. Following this respite, we will transport you back to your hotel, providing an opportunity to relax and unwind after an eventful day.
For the ultimate desert experience, you have the option of spending the night in a hotel or extending your adventure by spending a second night in a desert camp. Whichever option you choose, rest assured that your accommodations will provide comfort and a serene atmosphere, allowing you to reflect on the wonders you have witnessed and the memories you have made throughout your journey.
Your camel man will wake you up early in the morning so you can climb the sand dunes and see the beautiful Sahara desert sunrise. We will leave the Sahara after breakfast at the camp and drive to Dades Valley. Our first stop will be Rissani, which is where the Alaouite empire began. This is the royal family that rules Morocco right now. You will go to its traditional souk, which is in the middle of the city and has different sections for dates, veggies, spices, animals, clothes, and crafts. After that, we'll keep going until we reach the 984-foot-deep (300-meter-deep) Todra Gorge. Along the way, we'll see green palm trees and Berber towns. We'll have time to hike through the tunnel and cool off in the Todra River, which is a beautiful place. After lunch, we'll head west toward the Dades Valley, where we'll see beautiful sand castles and the "monkey toes" rock formations. Your hotel for the night will have a view of the green and lush Dades valley.
After breakfast on the last day of our 8 days tour from Tangier to Marrakech via Fes, we'll take a short walk through the canyons before heading to Marrakech.
We will go through Kalaat M'Gouna, the Valley of the Roses, and the Road of a Thousand Great Kasbahs on our way to the Dades Valley. We will stop in the village of Ait Benhaddou for lunch on our way to Ouarzazate.
We will have time and the chance to look around the famous UNESCO site, which has been the setting for many movies like "Gladiator" and "Lawrence of Arabia." We will drive through the Tizi N'Tichka pass to get to the city of Marrakech. our driver will take you to your hotel ot Riad.
Transfer to the airport in time for your flight, and at this point, our 8-day vacation from Fes to Marrakech will come to a conclusion.
